Cholesterol Screening Results, March 2010
I got in my most recent cholesterol screening results and things are looking pretty good.
Supplements
- 2,000 mg Niacin daily
- 100 mcg Chromium Polynicotinate daily
- 4,000 mg fish oil daily
- 6,000 IU Vitamin D
I take 1/2 in the morning and the other in the evening. I occasionally miss a dose, but not too often.
Diet
Chicken, Black Beans, Green Beans, Onion
This isn’t ALL I eat, of course, but it is the staple of my diet. Once a week I substitute red meat for the chicken. I also pretty much add in pickled jalpenos every time too.
I greatly reduced my intake of processed carbs: bread, pasta, sugar and the like. I also have pretty much eliminated dairy, although I do occassionally eat some cheese (and add whole milk to my single cup of coffee in the morning).
I’m not super strict, but I stick pretty close to the no processed carbs rule. Maybe 6 – 8 meals a week I deviate, and eat pizza, or Thai, a sandwhich, or even a Big Mac! But mostly I stick to the diet about 80% strict. I do snack on trail mix and the occassional bag of peanut M&Ms.
I eat regular dinner with the family, a small portion of whatever it is.
